The 2016 Apilusia gubernatorial election took place on 1 November, 2016, to elect the next Governor of the Province of Apilusia; this election took place concurrently with various local elections, local legislative elections, the election of both of Apilusia's house seats, the election of Apilusia's senate seat, and elections around the entirety of the Federatsija including a presidential election.

Incumbent Liberal governor Yederia Ansa was not eligible to run for reelection, having served the maximum of three terms and twelve years. Ansa was broadly unpopular by end of her final term, having presided over several controversies including the Svena land dispute which was only resolved after great headache was incurred and the Federatsija's government had to intervene on her behalf. While the province of Apilusia is generally seen as solidly left-leaning, and Liberals had governed over the province since 1988, the Freedom Party–the main opposition party in Apilusia–considered this gubernatorial election a substantial pickup opportunity. The Liberal Party of Apilusia picked Basin City junior mayor Misria Jenis for their candidate to the open seat on 15 August, 2016, while the Freedom Party candidate Visijan Enesy of Jona won a secret ballot election and was made the party's candidate on 22 August, 2016.

Despite significant get-out-the-vote efforts on the part of the Freedom Party, including one of their largest political operations in the province in years, their efforts fell significantly short and Misria Jenis went on to win the election by exactly 10 points–55% to 45%. While Jenis's margin of 255 votes was an underperformance of Yederia Ansa's margins, Jenis outran the Liberals in the downballot legislature by three points, mostly prominently in conservative districts and her home districts, these being Districts 9, 10, and 11. The failure to dislodge Jenis was a part of a broader disappointing electoral cycle for the Freedom Party in Apilusia, and four years later, despite hopes that Jenis would inherit Ansa's unpopularity, she would cruise to reelection.
